Mark Zuckerberg | Success story of Facebook
Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg. He launched TheFacebook originally on thefacebook.com on 4th february 2004.
Mark Zukerberg was born on 14th May 1984 in White Plains , New York. His family was well educated (Karen, a psychiatrist, and Edward Zuckerberg, a dentist)and at an early age he developed interest in computer programming. From Ardsley high school he transferred to the private school Phillips Exeter Academy, in New Hampshire. Then he took admission to Harvard University.
He implemented a messeging program named "Zucknet" as inter office communication for his father Dental practice. At that time he was only 12 years old. Due to interest in programming
his parents got him a computer programming tutor(David Newman).
During Zuckerberg's high school years, he worked under the company name Intelligent Media Group to build a music player called the Synapse Media Player. The device used machine learning to learn the user's listening habits, which was posted to Slashdot(A social news website) and
received a rating of 3 out of 5 from PC Magazine(American computer magazine). Then he began classes at Harvard University and studied psychology and computer science but he had already achieved a "reputation as a programming prodigy".
In sophomore year(In US sophomore year means a student studying in second year of college) he wrote a program called "CourseMatch", which allowed users to make class selection decisions based on the choices of other students and also to help them form study groups.
A short time later, he created a different program he initially called Facemash that let students select the best-looking person from a choice of photos.
According to Arie Hasit, Zuckerberg's roommate at the time, "he built the site for fun".
His site ran for a week but on Monday morning Harvard University shut it down because its popularity overwhelmed one of Harvard's network switches. He also apologized publicly. He officially launched facebook on thefacebook.com. Later "TheFacebook" was changed to "Facebook".
Later, Harvard University seniors Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra accused Zuckerberg of intentionally misleading them into believing he would help them build a social network called HarvardConnection.com, while he was instead using their ideas to build a competing product(TheFacebook). As a settlement they got 1.2 million facebook shares.
Zuckerberg dropped out of Harvard in his sophomore year in order to make his project more successful. Today his net worth is 7,450 crores USD 2019(united state dollar).
